The RG58 C/U is primarily used to connect the receivers and receiving antennas of wireless microphones over medium distances. The 50 Ω coaxial cable is identical to the RG58C/U in all respects except the copper braided shield; its somewhat lower shielding effectiveness reduces the copper content and lowers the costs. The cable is ideal for environments where electromagnetic interference is less of a risk.
