DPA d:dicate™ 4015C Compact Wide Cardioid Mic
The DPA d:dicate 4015C is a compact wide cardioid, pick-up condenser mic that delivers the same balanced and transparent sound as the DPA 4011C, but is designed to combine the features of both an omni-directional and cardioid mic. The C version of the 4015C has a smaller body size compared to the 4015A, meaning easier placement and more discreet usage. The 4011C delivers a wide performance from a small package.
When close miking certain dynamic instruments that produce varying tones from different positions, a cardioid mic can sometimes be too focused to pick up every element. A wide cardioid (hemispheric) mic expands the capsules field of view to encompass a wider pick up angle, but retains the rear rejection and sound separation that omni capsules can lack.
The mic has a linear neutral off axis response and any spill is subtly attenuated and is capable of handling high SPL of up to 159dB without distortion; perfect for use on drum kits and brass.
