Neve Elements 1084 EQ

The Neve Elements 1084 EQ is the classic 1084 three-band inductor equaliser, rebuilt as a software-controlled analogue module. The audio path is genuine Neve analogue — an inductor-based EQ taken from the Sound City 8028 console — while recall, snapshots and insert routing are handled digitally. It is not an emulation or a plug-in. It is the real circuit, in a 2U rack unit, with the control you would expect from a modern studio.

Eight channels live in a single 2U chassis, so a rack of Elements gives you the EQ density of a small console without the footprint. Each channel has a 25-way D-sub line input and output plus a separate insert send and return, and an intelligent insert matrix lets you place each Element anywhere in the signal flow under software control — no repatching when you want to move an EQ before or after a compressor.

Control comes from the Element Control Plugin (AAX, AU and VST3) inside your DAW, or from the standalone Neve Elements app. Both give full control of every parameter, with snapshots, multi-step undo and control grouping so several channels can be moved together. Settings are saved with the session and recalled exactly.

The 1084 EQ works as a standalone rack of eight EQs, as part of a larger Elements system with the 88R EQ and 88R Dynamics, or driven from the E-Controller and Elements Upstand Screen on the 8424E console.

Three-band inductor EQ

• High frequency: ±16dB shelving at 10kHz, 12kHz or 16kHz
• Low frequency: ±16dB shelving at 35Hz, 60Hz, 110Hz or 220Hz
• Mid frequency: ±12dB or ±18dB peaking, with High Q, at 0.36kHz, 0.7kHz, 1.6kHz, 3.2kHz, 4.8kHz or 7.2kHz
• High-pass filter: 18dB per octave at 50Hz, 80Hz, 160Hz or 300Hz
• Low-pass filter: 18dB per octave at 6kHz, 8kHz, 10kHz or 18kHz
