Waves API 550 - 550A and 550B EQ Plugins

Waves API 550 recreates the late-1960s API 550A and 550B equalisers, developed in close collaboration with API. Their visionary curves vary Q with gain, so boosts sound focused and musical while cuts give natural, subtle-to-steep tone shaping.

Carefully chosen frequencies lift instruments forward or push them back in the mix just as easily as they shape the contour of a full mix. On individual tracks, buses or masters, the 550 is a byword for musical transparency.

  • 550A: 5 selectable frequencies for 3 bands, plus a 50 Hz to 15 kHz filter
  • 550B: 4 overlapping EQ bands with multi-octave ranges
  • Ideal for general problem-solving or sweetening
  • High and low bands switch between peak and shelving
  • Switchable analogue harmonic distortion and hiss
  • Phase switch, output trim and metering

Supplied as a digital download with a perpetual licence.
