The Bettermaker Stereo Passive Equalizer (SPE) is a 2U stereo passive EQ in the classic boost-and-cut style, built with a fully analogue signal path and digitally controlled settings for exact recall. Real inductors and capacitors give the smooth low end and sweet top that make this kind of passive EQ a mastering favourite, while the digital control keeps both channels perfectly matched.

The SPE extends the traditional design with 6kHz, 20kHz and 28kHz high boost settings for extra air, and a front-panel gain control of ±8dB. Connected over USB, the Bettermaker plugin recalls and automates every control, stores up to 32 snapshots you can switch from track to track, and adds a digital 24dB/oct high-pass filter and an FFT analyser.

• Classic passive EQ:
  Low boost and low cut at 20, 30, 60 or 100Hz, a high boost with variable bandwidth, and a high-cut shelf.
• Extended air bands:
  High boost at 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20 or 28kHz.
• 100% analogue audio path:
  The audio is processed only by analogue circuitry. Control and recall are handled by a 32-bit microcontroller.
• Precise stereo matching:
  Both channels are set from one control, with 101-step resolution on the main controls.
• Output gain:
  ±8dB in 0.1dB steps, with a one-touch reset to flat.
• Plugin control:
  The VST3/AU/AAX plugin offers full automation and recall, 32 snapshots, a digital HPF and a spectrum analyser. The unit appears as a driverless USB HID device.
• Front-panel standby:
  Engage and standby buttons on the front, so you don't need to reach behind the rack.
