DPA DPK2015 - Piano Stereo Kit

The DPA DPK2015 Piano Stereo Kit is a ready-to-go stereo miking system for grand piano, built around a selected pair of DPA 2015 Wide Cardioid condenser microphones. Everything you need comes in one compact case, including gooseneck mounts, cables and a lightweight stereo boom, so the pair can be rigged in a minute or two inside or outside the instrument, with the lid open or closed.

The two microphones are chosen to match within ±1 dB sensitivity at 1 kHz, which gives you a steady, believable stereo image. Their wide cardioid pattern picks up more of the soundboard than a standard cardioid and is less fussy about exact placement. Engineers often describe the result as slightly sweeter than narrower-pattern kits, with a full, well-blended tone. The kit is designed for piano, but the pair also works well as drum overheads and on horn sections, vibraphone, marimba and other wide acoustic sources.
