Relab Maselec MLA-4 - Triband Compressor/Expander Plugin
Relab Maselec MLA-4 - Triband Compressor/Expander Plugin
The Maselec MLA-4 is a software recreation of Leif Mases' triband compressor/expander, developed with Mases himself. It is intended for mixing, mastering and stem work, where a multiband processor has to stay phase-coherent and leave the tonal balance alone.
Each of the three bands has its own threshold, ratio, attack and release, and each can compress or expand independently — compression to 6:1 and expansion to 1:2 — so low end can be tightened while high-frequency detail is lifted. A five-mode sidechain linking system runs from fully independent bands through partial linking to full linking. Auto Spectral Balance applies independent gain compensation per band to stop heavy processing in one band pulling the mix off balance, and per-band THD adds harmonic colour to the bands where it is wanted and nowhere else. Per-band solo, left and right cut, and independent channel monitoring are provided for checking decisions.
